(SUMY OBLAST) – Ukrainian border guards have discovered and destroyed a Russian drone trap placed on a route used by Ukrainian soldiers in Sumy Oblast.
The press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (DPSU) reported on 17th August 2026 that Russian forces had positioned a “waiting” drone, known as a “Zhduн”, on a pathway frequented by Ukrainian troops. The device was designed to ambush personnel moving through the area.
The trap was identified in time and neutralised by a drone operated by border guards from the “Steel Border” brigade. The Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle, callsign “General Cherry”, successfully destroyed the hidden enemy device before it could cause harm.
The incident was documented in footage released by the Press Service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
