One Million Tonnes of Wheat Collected in Poltava Oblast

Poltava Region Reports Bumper Wheat Harvest Milestone

(POLTAVA OBLAST, UKRAINE) – The first million tonnes of wheat from the new harvest have been gathered in Poltava Oblast.

Agricultural enterprises across the region have threshed early grain and leguminous crops on 279,600 hectares, which represents 75 percent of the forecast area, according to the head of the Poltava Oblast Military Administration, Volodymyr Diakinych. The total grain harvest has reached 1.23 million tonnes, of which 1 million tonnes is wheat.

Diakinych also reported that farmers have collected 209,400 tonnes of barley, 107,100 tonnes of rapeseed, 31,500 tonnes of peas, 7,500 tonnes of rye and 800 tonnes of oats.

Ukrinform earlier reported that agricultural producers in Donetsk Oblast had completed threshing of early grain crops on 60 percent of the planned area.
