Sochi Hit by Mass Drone Attack, Oil Depot Burns

(SOCHI, RUSSIA) – A massive drone attack on Sochi and the federal territory of Sirius during the night of 4th September 2026 caused a fire at an oil depot and damaged residential buildings, according to Russian authorities. The attack also struck an area near a Russian air defence division.

The regional operational headquarters reported that drone debris was found at various addresses across the city. Glazing in several residential buildings and other structures was damaged, and isolated fires broke out in multiple locations. Russian authorities claimed there were no casualties and that the fires were quickly extinguished.

Earlier, based on open source intelligence analysis, ASTRA reported that the same night saw an attack near Sochi on an area where a Russian air defence division equipped with an S-300 or S-400 system is located. A fire was recorded at the site following the attack. There is currently no confirmed information that the air defence system itself was hit.
