(DONETSK, UKRAINE) – A significant missile strike has hit a target in Russian-occupied Donetsk, with at least four impacts reported. Russian sources have claimed the strike involved FP-5 Flamingo missiles, though this remains unconfirmed. Analysts suggest the weapon may have been a Storm Shadow cruise missile.
The target was a building complex near a cinema currently showing a film titled “Attack of the Drones”. Russian officials and their affiliated channels have claimed the site was a shopping mall. However, geolocation analysis indicates the strike hit a specific complex, not a civilian retail facility.
Early reports suggest the building served as a command post for Russia’s 51st Combined Arms Army. The use of precision guided missiles points to a high value target. The nature of the structure, an apartment complex rather than an industrial warehouse, further suggests it was used as a command centre or makeshift barracks for senior officers.
The 51st Combined Arms Army is currently responsible for Russian offensive operations north of Donetsk, particularly around Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka. These areas remain key focal points of the conflict.
The strike produced significant blast smoke, consistent with multiple impacts. Observers noted at least three audible impacts in the footage, with a fourth likely occurring before recording began.
The attack demonstrates Ukraine’s continued ability to target Russian command infrastructure deep behind front lines. Further confirmation of the target and casualties is awaited.
The footage was shared by the Suchomimus YouTube channel, which monitors and analyses battlefield developments.
