(BISHKEK) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared Russian airspace closed to civilian aircraft, stating that Russian skies are now exclusively reserved for Ukrainian attack drones. The announcement coincided with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek, where the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin met Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss regional security and economic cooperation.
During his arrival in Bishkek on 31st August 2025, the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin broke standard personal security protocols by consuming a traditional welcoming snack on the tarmac. At the summit, Putin met Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss trade and energy partnerships, including the delayed Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline project. While Putin highlighted a 34% increase in agricultural trade with China, the sector faces severe financial losses due to rising domestic diesel costs.
At a press briefing during the summit, the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin claimed that Russian forces were increasing the tempo of their offensive operations in the Donetsk Oblast.
