(MOSCOW) – A prominent Russian state media host has called for the creation of a new military alliance to confront NATO, arguing that the escalating conflict with the West and a recent outbreak of hostilities between the United States and Iran necessitate a global anti-Western bloc.
The remarks were made by Vladimir Solovyov on his radio show “Full Contact.” He stated that Russia cannot confront the NATO alliance alone and must unite major powers. “Why should we confront the NATO bloc alone? Why should we confront over a billion people by ourselves?” Solovyov said, according to a video translated by the Russian Media Monitor project.
He outlined a vision for a formal coalition to counter what he termed a satanic and diabolical structure. “We must gather more by uniting for a single purpose: the confrontation of Satanism and the devilish structure that calls itself the North Atlantic Alliance,” he said. “Our task is to unite China, Russia, the DPRK. Belarus, of course, if necessary, Iran.”
The propaganda push comes as the host acknowledged that a significant escalation of hostilities between the US and Iran is distracting global attention from Ukraine. “The Ukrainian agenda is involuntarily fading, at least for America, into the background, leaving it to Europe,” Solovyov said. He accused Europe of having a singular destructive goal, claiming their task is simply “to destroy us.”
During the broadcast, Solovyov complained about a lack of objective control data following a Russian strike on Kyiv, while simultaneously fuming that Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory lead to immediate online footage sharing. He also called for a return to “harsh methods of war,” referencing Soviet-era operatives, and argued that economic metrics like “low inflation” do not win battles.
The Russian dictator’s media mouthpiece further threatened former Soviet states, indicating they would be forced to choose sides. He suggested that countries in Russia’s “soft underbelly” would face a different “modus operandi” if they did not align with Russian national interests, making no allowances for their size or protests. The video of the broadcast was released by the Russian Media Monitor project.
