(NOVOROSSIYSK, KRASNODAR KRAI) – Ukrainian forces have struck a naval base and Kalibr missile carriers in the Russian port city of Novorossiysk, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The overnight operation targeted a terminal involved in oil shipments, military harbour facilities, and naval vessels capable of launching Kalibr cruise missiles. The strike was part of Ukraine’s ongoing response to Russia’s daily terrorist attacks.
“We are responding to Russia’s daily terrorist strikes effectively and across virtually all geography,” President Zelenskyy said. “Today there are results in Novorossiysk in the Krasnodar region.”
The Ukrainian leader thanked the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Special Operations Forces (SSO), the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Defence Intelligence (GUR), and the State Border Guard Service for their precision.
“Thank you to everyone developing the potential of our long range sanctions so that the Russian war is increasingly felt where it came from,” Zelenskyy added.
The strike on Novorossiysk, a major Russian naval hub on the Black Sea, follows a pattern of Ukrainian attacks on military infrastructure deep behind enemy lines. The port city hosts a significant portion of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, which has been repeatedly targeted throughout the conflict.
