(WARSAW) – Poland will decide within days whether to transfer additional Patriot missiles to Ukraine, the country’s Deputy Minister of National Defence has said.
Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka told RMF FM that the decision is “a matter of the coming days” and that negotiations are being held with both NATO and the United States.
“This decision must always be made in the context of the safety of Poles, and all arguments must be weighed,” Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said.
She added that any such decision would be taken at the highest level.
“This decision is always made at the highest level,” she said.
When pressed on the timeline, the deputy defence minister repeated: “It is a matter of the coming days.”
Poland’s Defence Minister previously expressed support for transferring Patriot missiles to Ukraine, stating: “I want Russian missiles to be shot down not over Warsaw.”
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Patriot missiles exist in the world and that only a political decision is needed to transfer them to Ukraine.
