Naftogaz Delivers on Targets as Attacks Test Resilience

Zelensky and Naftogaz Chief Tackle Energy Security Threats

(KYIV, UKRAINE) – President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Serhiy Koretsky, chief executive officer of Ukraine’s state gas giant Naftogaz, to address the fresh challenges facing the energy and infrastructure sectors. The meeting comes as Russian strikes continue to damage power networks, fuel stations and other vital facilities, particularly in border areas and regions close to the front line.

The President said on the Telegram messaging platform that the pair discussed measures the country needs to build greater resilience. He added that the talks were also aimed at securing specific results under Ukraine’s updated political strategy. The discussion focused on practical steps required to keep energy supplies flowing and to protect critical infrastructure from further attacks.

President Zelensky received a report from Mr Koretsky and thanked him for what he described as effective leadership of two strategic state enterprises, Naftogaz and Ukrnafta. He noted that managing these companies involves navigating a field with many competing interests. According to the President, Mr Koretsky had ensured that Ukraine’s national interests were upheld in the operations of both firms.

Both Naftogaz and Ukrnafta have delivered on their defined national performance targets, the President said. The state energy sector remains central to Ukraine’s wartime economy, and the government views its stability as essential for households, businesses and the broader recovery effort.

The meeting revealed the pressure on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure from persistent Russian attacks. Maintaining gas production, storage and distribution capacity is a priority as the country prepares for future demand cycles. The government has repeatedly stressed the need to strengthen physical protection of energy sites and to secure alternative supply routes.

No financial details of the talks were disclosed.
