(DONETSK, UKRAINE) – Ukraine launched Storm Shadow cruise missiles against the city of Donetsk in a strike that destroyed a building believed to have held significant military or intelligence value, according to open source analysis.
Dash cam footage captured at least three missiles passing over the city. A passenger in the same vehicle recorded additional video showing the direction and explosion of one impact.
Open source intelligence identified the target as a building in Donetsk, though no official description of the structure or its occupants has been released. Photographs taken by motorists show the building reduced to rubble.
“Potentially Ukraine had some intelligence that maybe a high ranking general was there or this was an FSB base,” said Jake Broe, a military analyst covering the war. “We might find out more information in the next couple days, or this will just be another unexplained story, but I think it was a big deal. There was probably something important here.”
The use of multiple Storm Shadow cruise missiles suggests the target held significant value. Ukraine rarely deploys such expensive precision weapons against low priority targets.
The strike occurred amid Ukraine’s intensifying campaign against Russian military and economic infrastructure. Further details on the target and casualties have not been confirmed.
