(MOSCOW) – A prominent Russian state television host has called for missile strikes on British territory and suggested the use of tactical nuclear weapons against Ukraine, in a sign of growing frustration within Kremlin media circles over the war’s progress. Vladimir Solovyov, host of the radio programme “Full Contact,” made the remarks during a broadcast on 19th August 2026, in which he criticised the Russian military leadership for failing to halt Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow.
Solovyov questioned why Russia had not destroyed drone manufacturing facilities in Britain, stating, “Why then have we still not destroyed the factories on British territory? What else has to happen?” He added, “We must strike at England. England must feel the full wrath of the Russian bear.”
The presenter also demanded that France, Germany, Poland and Romania be made to “feel the full wrath of the Russian bear,” accusing Western nations of providing military support to Ukraine.
Solovyov expressed particular anger over the continued Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Moscow, claiming that more than 600 drones had been launched at the Russian capital overnight. “Where is the result? Give me the result,” he demanded, addressing Russia’s military leadership.
The host criticised what he described as Russian “softness,” citing the case of a woman in Sevastopol who he claimed had detonated an explosive device killing a serviceman. He alleged she had been detained previously but released with only a fine, and suggested Ukraine’s SBU security service was exploiting such leniency when recruiting agents.
Solovyov also questioned why Russia had not retaliated for attacks on the Nord Stream pipelines or strikes on Russian airfields. “We have not responded to a single explosion. Not our Northern Streams, not the strikes on our airfields using Operation Cobweb. We have not carried out any measures even close,” he said.
The presenter went further by suggesting Russia should target airports in Poland and Romania that receive cargo for Ukraine, sink ships and down aircraft transporting military equipment, and “finally blow up all the bridges across the Dnipro.” He added, “If we lack the capacity, perhaps we should use tactical nuclear weapons for this.”
Solovyov claimed that “all possible red lines” that would prevent a nuclear response have “long been crossed,” arguing that the West believes Russia will never respond.
The broadcast concluded with Solovyov declaring, “Colonel Solovyov has finished his report,” in an apparent reference to his self appointed role as a military commentator.
