(MOSCOW, RUSSIA) – A prominent Russian military analyst has urged the Kremlin to exploit an alleged critical depletion of United States missile stockpiles, claiming American arsenals have been reduced by half after just one month of conflict.
Yury Knutov, appearing on the state television programme “60 Minutes,” told host Olga Skabeeva that a scandal was brewing in the US. Knutov claimed President Donald Trump had accused an official of deceiving him about the true state of America’s air defence reserves.
Knutov cited figures asserting that 850 Tomahawk cruise missiles and more than 1,000 Patriot missiles were used within a single month. He claimed this represented 50 percent of the total Patriot stockpile and 80 percent of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptor missiles.
“The Americans have practically been left bare,” Knutov stated, adding that it would take the United States three years to restore its inventories. He dismissed production pledges from the defence contractor Lockheed Martin, describing the promised output of 2,000 missiles as “a drop in the ocean” needed by the Pentagon itself.
Knutov praised Iran’s strategy of mass ballistic missile strikes, specifically lauding the modern hypersonic missiles. He concluded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is unlikely to secure any meaningful missile supplies, a point emphasised by his statement that “nothing good” is on the horizon for Kyiv.
State Duma member Yury Afonin, also present on the programme, contributed a lengthy ideological commentary. He claimed Western media routinely labels Russia and Vladimir Putin as “communists,” suggesting the West is effectively still fighting the Soviet Union out of fear of its resurgence. Afonin insisted that lasting peace can only be achieved through military victory, stating, “We are the ones who want peace the most.”
