(KYIV) – Ukraine has launched a new strike campaign targeting Russia’s second largest logistics company Ozon, expanding beyond the ongoing destruction of Wildberries facilities that has already wiped out 43 percent of the company’s nationwide logistics footprint in under two weeks.
Overnight and into Thursday morning, Ukrainian drones struck another Wildberries logistics hub in Volgograd, an Ozon facility in Tatarstan, the Volgograd Oil Refinery, and a major oil transshipment facility that continues to burn for a second day. Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces confirmed a dedicated campaign against Ozon facilities.
Footage showed a vast cloud of black smoke from the burning Wildberries hub blanketing half of Volgograd, a city roughly 500 kilometres from the front line. The facility measured more than 48,000 square metres.
The Lukoil Volgogradneftepererabotka refinery, which processes 14.8 to 15 million tonnes of crude oil per year, equivalent to roughly 300,000 barrels per day and ranking among Russia’s top 10 refineries, was also hit.
Nine Wildberries logistics facilities have now been destroyed, totalling 1.1 million square metres of the company’s 2.6 million square metre network. Around 60,000 Russians have lost their jobs, with billions in warehoused products lost and billions in company debt that can no longer be repaid.
Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces stated: “Drone suppliers for the RU Army should be burned.” Both Wildberries and Ozon facilities are used to supply military gear to the front.
A Ukrainian A22 Foxbat heavy strike drone, a modified light civilian aircraft, also struck the Russian port of Kaspisk in Dagestan on the Caspian Sea, penetrating roughly 1,000 kilometres of Russian airspace.
The Financial Times published an assessment based on satellite imagery and intelligence showing approximately 45 percent of Russian oil refinery capacity is offline.
Meanwhile, Russians withdrew a record amount of cash from banks in July, with demand for cash exceeding 2 trillion roubles (£16.6 billion, $25.6 billion, €22.8 billion) since the start of the year. The figure rose significantly in July, reaching approximately 600 billion roubles (£5 billion, $7.7 billion, €6.9 billion), close to year to date highs.
Russian bloggers warned that with the budget deficit soaring to yet another record, the government will soon have no choice but to seize the population’s banking deposits or forcefully convert part of citizens’ bank deposits into government bonds.
A water crisis in the city of Tyumen continues to worsen, with raw sewage and a river containing rotting animal carcasses fully mixed with the main civilian water supply, causing thousands to flee.
Wages are collapsing in parts of Russia as North Korean labour replaces local workers at logistics facilities. One Russian woman complained she would earn only 1,100 roubles (£9.15, $14.10, €12.60) for a 12 hour shift at a collection point.
Recruitment efforts are increasingly targeting women through deceptive enlistment tactics, with a woman in the publishing industry reporting she is now being forced to sign military documents and register for military service or lose her right to work.
Russian youth are openly blaming Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for the country’s decline, posting viral videos filmed in front of burning logistics facilities. One young Russian, standing before the raging inferno in Volgograd, said: “Thank Putin as it’s Armageddon for us.” Another woman stated: “It’s coming to an end, but no one wants to be saved.”
A Russian Kh-101 cruise missile entered Polish airspace during Russia’s massive overnight attack on Ukraine, crossing the border near the village of Tarnava Kolonia in the Lublin Voivodeship. Polish prosecutors confirmed the missile was manufactured in the second quarter of 2026 at a plant in the Moscow region.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a visit to the United States, told Fox News that 1.6 million Russians have been taken out of action, with 700,000 killed and the remainder wounded. He updated Ukrainian losses to 50,000 soldiers killed and 400,000 wounded.
Following Zelenskyy’s departure from Washington, the Russian dictator called Donald Trump. Trump subsequently stated he was not sure if he would let Ukraine build Patriot missiles and refused to provide 300 Patriot interceptor missiles before winter. Zelenskyy warned that without additional interceptors, there is a risk of new massive strikes on the power system and large scale power and heating outages in winter.
Elon Musk declined to meet with President Zelenskyy to discuss expanding Starlink coverage into Russian territory for the purpose of destroying ballistic missile launchers.
