(BELGOROD, RUSSIA) – Ukrainian forces have destroyed two major bridges inside Russian territory, disrupting supply lines feeding Moscow’s offensive towards Kharkiv and its attempts to establish a border buffer zone. Footage released on 9 August 2026 shows a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet striking a bridge near the settlement of Urazovo in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast with French-supplied AASM Hammer glide bombs.
A second video confirms another bridge spanning the same river a few kilometres away was also hit and rendered impassable. The damage to the second crossing appears more severe, with the span entirely collapsed. Both structures sit on a main supply route leading south towards the contested city of Kupiansk, where Russian forces have been pressing hard throughout the year.
The strike on Urazovo, located approximately 25 kilometres from the Ukrainian border, marks the furthest recorded deployment of an AASM Hammer glide bomb in the war. Prior engagements with the weapon typically occurred within 10 kilometres of the front line, suggesting a possible degradation of Russian air defence capabilities threatening Ukrainian strike aircraft. The operation aims to degrade Russian logistics in the northern sector, where the Kremlin’s forces are attempting to carve out a buffer zone to hinder cross-border incursions.
