(MOSCOW, RUSSIA) – A massive wave of Ukrainian long range drones struck Moscow during election night, setting the Kapotnya oil refinery ablaze and hitting the Sofyino logistics complex, according to footage and reports from open source intelligence channels.
The Kapotnya refinery, which supplies roughly 40 per cent of Moscow’s fuel, was set on fire. Several critical processing units were reportedly damaged, potentially leaving the strategically important facility inoperable. The Sofyino logistics complex was also struck.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that a key Russian oil facility and a major logistics site had been struck, describing them as assets worth billions that help sustain Russia’s war machine. Footage shows Moscow’s air defences firing over the city and reportedly hitting Russian facilities, while drones continued reaching their targets.
The consequences quickly spread. Moscow residents rushed to remaining fuel stations, while hundreds of flights were cancelled or delayed. Despite the destruction, Moscow’s mayor claimed Russian defences had intercepted an extraordinary 1,660 drones.
The attack coincided with Russia’s heavily manipulated parliamentary elections, where reports showed pre filled ballots and blatant rigging.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Operation Vivaldi is being revealed on the Lyman front in the Donetsk oblast, where Ukrainian forces have reclaimed territory, pushed Russian troops back and captured more soldiers. The operation was announced by the Third Army Corps. New Ukrainian jet powered interceptors are also appearing against Russia’s latest attack drones.
Beyond the battlefield, pressure is mounting across Russia, including fuel disruption, blocked grain exports, technological decline, corporate seizures and growing signs of political decay.
