SBU Strikes Russian Geran-5 Drone with New Interceptor

(KYIV, UKRAINE) – The Security Service of Ukraine has struck a Russian jet powered Geran-5 drone with a new Ukrainian interceptor drone for the second time in one day. Military counterintelligence officers deployed the new interceptor successfully against the Russian target, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“We have already seen the second successful use today by the Security Service of Ukraine of a new Ukrainian interceptor drone,” Mr Zelenskyy said. “The SBU military counterintelligence fighters struck a Russian Geran-5 jet powered drone. I thank the SBU warriors for their accuracy.”

Earlier, Mr Zelenskyy had shown the combat use of interceptor drones to shoot down jet powered Shaheds. The SBU developed and successfully used the new interceptor drone, marking another milestone in Ukraine’s efforts to counter Russian aerial threats.

Mr Zelenskyy also heard a report from Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi regarding another positive result of tests of interceptors against jet powered Shaheds. The development represents a significant advancement in Ukraine’s air defence capabilities against Russian drone attacks.
