(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities have caused fresh power cuts in three regions, while bad weather has left 29 settlements without electricity in two others, national grid operator Ukrenergo reported on the morning of 13 July.
The company said in a social media statement that the enemy continues to attack civilian energy infrastructure across Ukraine. As a result of the latest shelling, new outages were recorded in the Kharkiv, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia regions. Emergency repair teams have already begun restoration work in areas where the security situation allows.
Separately, thunderstorms and strong winds left 29 settlements fully or partly without power in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions. Regional power company crews are working to repair damaged transmission lines.
Ukrenergo also reported that electricity consumption as of 9:30 am on Monday was 2.4 percent lower than the level recorded on the previous working day, Friday 10 July. The system operator said the downward trend in consumption is linked to cooler air temperatures across most regions of the country.
The grid operator advised consumers to use powerful electrical appliances during the period of highest efficiency for industrial solar power stations, between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.
No financial values were specified in the Ukrenergo statement. The company added that no scheduled electricity outages were forecast for 13 July.
