Ukrainian Industrial Designs Enter Global DesignView System

Ukraine Joins World’s Largest Design Database DesignView

(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian industrial designs have been integrated into DesignView, the world’s largest design database, marking another step in the country’s path towards joining the European system of intellectual property protection. The announcement was made by Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.

The integration was carried out on 8 July by the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovations, known as UANIPIO, in cooperation with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). With Ukraine now included, the DesignView platform brings together data from 78 intellectual property offices around the world.

This move follows a similar integration of Ukrainian trademarks into the European TMview database in October 2025, when more than 600,000 Ukrainian trademarks were added. Now industrial designs have joined the international system, further aligning Ukraine’s intellectual property framework with European standards.

DesignView currently holds over 24.7 million industrial designs, of which more than 98,300 are Ukrainian. Access to the database is free for all users, making it a widely used tool for businesses, designers, legal professionals and researchers seeking to check existing design rights before launching new products.

Oleksandr Tsybort, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, said the integration will make it easier for Ukrainian designers, entrepreneurs and innovators to protect their intellectual property rights. He noted that Ukraine creates ideas, designs and inventions with brilliance and that this capital is now being taken to the world. The task, he said, is to ensure that Ukrainian creativity is both protected and visible everywhere. Joining DesignView means that the work of Ukrainian creators is no longer confined within the country’s borders but can operate in the global market under reliable protection.

The integration was implemented within the EU4IP project, which is funded by the European Union. The project aims to harmonise Ukrainian intellectual property legislation with EU standards, helping to create a more predictable and secure environment for innovation and business development. The inclusion of Ukrainian industrial designs in DesignView is expected to reduce the administrative burden on local companies seeking to register their designs abroad and to increase transparency for international firms looking to do business in Ukraine.

Ukrainian patents, trademarks and other intellectual property objects are also scheduled for integration into the international databases of the World Intellectual Property Organization. These databases are used by specialists, companies and investors worldwide, and their inclusion of Ukrainian data will further connect the country’s innovation sector to the global economy.

The development is part of a broader effort by Ukraine to modernise its intellectual property system, attract foreign investment and support the growth of creative and manufacturing industries. Stronger intellectual property protection is seen as an important factor for economic growth, particularly as the country seeks to expand its exports of higher value goods and services.
