How Ukraine retook Donetsk territory after four-hour assault | Battle Plans Exposed The Sun

(DNIPROPETROVSK OBLAST) – Ukrainian forces have repelled one of the largest Russian armoured assaults in recent months, destroying dozens of combat vehicles during a four hour battle in the Donetsk region.

The coordinated mechanised push was crushed by defenders under the operational command of the First Corps “Azov” of the National Guard of Ukraine. The Russian force, comprising elements of the 41st Guards Combined Arms Army and the 90th Guards Tank Division, attempted to breach Ukrainian lines near the village of Shcherbynivka.

According to a report by The Sun, Ukrainian command anticipated the assault. Defenders used heavy minefields to halt lead armoured vehicles, forcing Russian columns into narrow choke points. Ukrainian Air Force jets then destroyed critical bridges to cut off Russian retreat and supply lines. When Russian engineers attempted to lay pontoon bridges, they were targeted by tactical aviation.

With the Russian columns trapped, Ukrainian forces launched a synchronised fire assault using tube artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and strike drones. The engagement resulted in the destruction of 7 tanks, 7 combat vehicles, 8 missile launchers and 47 light vehicles. Over 123 Russian soldiers were killed.

Separately, in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukrainian forces have regained over 75 square kilometres of territory following a series of offensive operations near the settlements of Turnov, Zapariki and Chanev. The operation involved the Skalar Regiment and was supported by reconnaissance drones, artillery and heavy bomber drones. Russian reinforcement vehicles were destroyed en route by Ukrainian drones.

The fighting comes as Ukraine has completed construction of a major new fortification network known as the “New Donbas Line”. The engineering project, which includes 42 kilometres of anti drone road shields, is designed to channel enemy armour into pre prepared killing zones.

Video footage of the four hour Donetsk battle was released by the press service of the First Corps “Azov”.
