Ukrainian Strike Destroys Air Defence Battery in Feodosia

(FEODOSIA, CRIMEA) – A Ukrainian strike has destroyed a Russian S-300 or S-400 air defence battery near the port city of Feodosia in occupied Crimea, resulting in a massive secondary explosion.

Footage circulating online shows the aftermath of the strike, which triggered a large blast and a “cookoff” of missiles, indicating the launcher was fully loaded at the time. The target was later geolocated to a known battery position just south of the Feodosia port.

The attack also reportedly destroyed a radar site associated with the battery, located further west in the same strike. The video, shared on social media, suggests the destruction of at least one launcher, though the full extent of the damage to the battery is not yet confirmed.

This air defence site was one of Russia’s main static batteries on the Crimean peninsula. Its location on the eastern coast suggests it served a dual purpose, protecting the nearby Feodosia port—which hosts ship repair and construction facilities—and providing cover for the Kerch Bridge.

The S-300 and S-400 are Russia’s primary long-range surface-to-air missile systems. Russia is estimated to possess between 800 and 1,000 S-300 launchers and approximately 500 S-400 launchers. The exact number destroyed during the war is unknown as not all strikes are independently verified. However, Ukrainian forces have increasingly targeted these systems, placing a significant strain on the Russian air defence network.
