(PRYMORSK, ZAPORIZHZHIA OBLAST) – Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian military fuel convoy attempting to resupply occupied Crimea via a coastal route along the Azov Sea. The strike triggered a massive fire and left multiple vehicles completely wrecked.
The convoy was targeted as it transited near the settlement of Prymorsk, situated between Berdiansk and Melitopol. Geolocated footage confirmed the incident occurred in the area of Avtoly, with the trucks heading west when they were hit.
The strike, conducted by drones, resulted in the destruction of two out of three fuel tankers and one large six wheeled support truck. Dramatic video shows a drone hitting the rearmost fuel truck, which produced a huge fireball that engulfed a following escort vehicle.
A subsequent cut in the footage reveals a massive blaze caused by spilled fuel, with a large transport truck lying on its side near the wreckage. Analysts suggested the overturned vehicle may be an additional truck, possibly a command vehicle, that was caught in the inferno while trying to pass.
Further imagery shows remnants of the convoy continuing to drive before a drone strikes another tanker, which was fitted with a protective cage that failed to prevent the impact, ultimately setting the vehicle alight.
The convoy was reportedly en route from Russia to Crimea, a critical supply line for the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s occupying forces. The successful interdiction comes amid reports of domestic fuel shortages in Russia, making the loss of three tankers worth of fuel a notable logistical blow.
