(KYIV) – Ukraine must continue to apply pressure on the Russian Federation, particularly by striking its infrastructure, according to former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He stated that Ukraine possesses the necessary capabilities for such operations, specifically drones and Flamingo missiles.
In an interview with Forbes Ukraine, Johnson emphasised that the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will not halt the war until the pressure significantly increases. He noted that Ukrainian forces are applying pressure heroically, using Fire Point capabilities for deep strikes.
Johnson also highlighted the severe losses suffered by Russian forces, stating that Russia lost a record 42,000 personnel in July and August. In his view, Putin will not win the war but believes it is better to continue it.
Consequently, Johnson argues that continuing to pressure the Kremlin is the only viable course of action. He warned that Ukraine will likely face another very difficult winter but suggested that Ukraine could now attempt to inflict similar pain on Moscow and St Petersburg.
Drawing attention to Ukraine’s long-range weaponry, Johnson reiterated that Ukraine could inflict serious damage on Russian infrastructure. He questioned why Ukraine should not use drones and Flamingo missiles, alongside other capabilities, to put many things out of operation, especially if Russian forces continue to attack civilian targets in Ukraine.
Johnson concluded that Putin will not force Ukraine to capitulate or conquer it. He stated that Putin must understand that this war is foolish and that, on the contrary, he is making Ukraine much more patriotic and determined in its resistance.
