(MOSCOW, RUSSIA) – Russian state television host Vladimir Solovyov has called for military action against Norway and the revocation of diplomatic recognition of Germany during a broadcast of his radio programme Full Contact.
Solovyov, one of the Kremlin’s most prominent propagandists, demanded that Russia send its navy to seize back a Russian research vessel detained by Norwegian authorities at the request of Ukraine.
Norway seized the Russian state owned research vessel near Svalbard in partnership with Ukraine’s Naftogaz. The seizure enforces a 2023 ruling ordering Russia to pay $4.2 billion in compensation for assets seized in Crimea. The $4.2 billion is equivalent to approximately £3.3 billion.
Solovyov stated that Russia should send its military fleet to recover the vessel. “What does the arrest of our ship mean? Our military fleet should be sent there to recapture our vessel,” he said.
He added: “If necessary, raise the aviation. If NATO wants something, to hell with NATO. Bomb them to hell. The war is already going on.”
Solovyov described Norway as “a country with a population the size of a spit” and referred to its royal family using derogatory language. He questioned Norway’s legitimacy as a state.
“There are five million people and a donkey. They have oil, they have land borders, and they are rude to us,” Solovyov said.
The Russian propagandist also called for Germany’s recognition as a state to be withdrawn. “I believe we should revoke the recognition of Germany as a state. I believe everything that belongs to Germany here should undergo the strictest analysis and, in the interests of our state, should pass to us,” he said.
Solovyov repeated claims made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who described European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as a Nazi leader. Solovyov referred to her as “Führer Ursula.”
The broadcast included accusations that Europe has endorsed what Solovyov called terrorism by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy against civilian shipping.
Solovyov also dismissed concerns about provocations in Leipzig, where German authorities have blamed Russia for attempting to blow up a cargo plane at the airport.
