(MOSCOW, RUSSIA) – Russian state television host Vladimir Solovyov has declared that Russia is fighting a “holy war” against “absolute evil” and has called for the destruction of Western nations, including NATO member states, during a broadcast on his radio show “Full Contact.”
Solovyov’s remarks represent a significant escalation in Kremlin rhetoric, as he framed the conflict in explicitly religious terms and threatened the use of weapons of mass destruction.
The host began by referencing a recent incident in Volgograd Oblast, where a hunter named Nikolai Mukhin was fined 40,000 rubles (approximately $450 or £350) and had his weapon confiscated for attempting to shoot down a Ukrainian drone. Solovyov questioned how the state could punish a citizen for trying to defend his homeland.
“Whoever does not understand that a war is going on, there is an event taking place that is much more important than the everyday course of things,” Solovyov said.
He then declared that the war “has long had a sacred character.” He dismissed atheists and what he called “demons” who protest against the framing of the conflict in religious terms.
Solovyov claimed Russia is fighting “god fighters” and “satanists who do not even hide it.” He specifically referenced the British Prime Minister, stating that the United Kingdom “will be wiped from the face of the earth by the power of Russia.”
The host cited Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s warning about the Poseidon nuclear torpedo. “Stop warning them, they need to be destroyed,” Solovyov said.
He described the West as a “pack of American techno-fascists” and claimed that “absolute evil” stands on the opposing side. He described recent events in Moscow as a symbol of Russia’s calling to a “sacred battle against absolute evil, absolute darkness.”
“Our victory is as inevitable as the victory of light over darkness,” Solovyov declared.
The host drew parallels with the Second World War and invoked Russian historical narratives of overcoming invaders. “We are Russians, God is with us. And if God is with us, then who is against us?” he asked.
Solovyov stated that “Russia is finding saints” while the enemy is “mired in sin and worships sinners.” He called the conflict a “holy war” that Russia is obliged to win.
The host then issued a series of explicit threats against Western nations. He stated that British factories should burn and that “Michelle” should be destroyed, apparently referring to a Western target. He called for the destruction of NATO experts working in Germany, satellite systems providing targeting information, and French missile production facilities.
“French legionnaires must be destroyed, not only those on Russian soil, but also their headquarters and places of deployment,” Solovyov said.
He invoked the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah, stating that “the new NATO Sodoms and Gomorrahs must be destroyed without mercy” because there are not enough righteous people to justify preserving these cities.
Solovyov concluded by stating that if Russia does not achieve victory, “there will be nowhere to write it, and the world will not exist. What use is a world ruled by satanists? What use is a world without holy Rus?”
He declared that Russia has no choice but to win, adding that “Russian combat robots are coming soon.”
The broadcast represents some of the most extreme rhetoric aired on Russian state media since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.
