Ukrainian Forces Destroy Russian Supply Convoy on Berdiansk-Mariupol Highway

(BERDIANSK-MARIUPOL HIGHWAY, ZAPORIZHZHIA OBLAST) – Ukrainian forces have struck and destroyed a Russian military convoy on the M14 Novorossiya Highway between Mariupol and Berdiansk, with multiple trucks observed burning heavily, according to footage released on 19th August 2026.

The videos, filmed from two different angles, show at least four trucks engulfed in flames. The intensity of the fire suggests the vehicles may have been carrying fuel or other flammable materials rather than standard transport cargo.

United24 revealed last month that Russia had begun masking military trucks as civilian vehicles and hiding fuel tankers inside ordinary lorries to avoid Ukrainian strikes. The burning vehicles on this occasion appear to be burning far too heavily to be standard transport lorries, suggesting they may have been carrying fuel barrels or similar supplies for Russian forces.

The convoy was geolocated to the Berdiansk-Mariupol road, one of the main logistics routes connecting three major Russian logistics hubs: Mariupol, Berdiansk and Melitopol. The road serves as Russia’s primary supply route from Russia and Taganrog, with vehicles heading to Mariupol and then either north towards the eastern front or further west towards Melitopol for the southern front.

Berdiansk, situated between the two other hubs, serves as a major port frequently used by Russian forces for resupply operations. The road also leads into Crimea, which is currently experiencing a significant fuel shortage.

It is unclear where the destroyed trucks were heading. Ukraine has increased strikes on Russian logistics this year, enabled by the deployment of mid-range strike drones such as the Hornet and domestically produced variants. These drones allow Ukrainian forces to hit targets regularly at distances of up to 150 kilometres, including supply roads that were previously difficult to reach with smaller attack drones that lacked the necessary range.

Footage of the burning convoy was released by the Suchomimus YouTube channel, which monitors and documents Ukrainian military operations.
