(SOCHI, KRASNODAR KRAI) – The Russian city of Sochi came under drone attack on Wednesday evening, with fires reported across the city and a strike on the port area.
Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin warned local residents on his Telegram channel that there was a threat and urged them to take shelter in a safe place. Information spread about a strike on the port in Sochi and powerful explosions.
The attack was ongoing, with the city also being hit by drones. Sochi residents were advised to leave the waterfront. The evacuation of concertgoers from events taking place near the port has begun.
Videos of fires that broke out in the city are spreading online. The strike follows a pattern of Ukrainian attacks on Russian military and logistical infrastructure.
Earlier on the same day, Russia complained that Ukraine attacked a plant in Yamal, beyond the Arctic Circle.
