(CRIMEA, UKRAINE) – Ukrainian drone units struck 28 power substations in occupied Crimea and other temporarily occupied territories between 25 and 29 July, plunging multiple cities into blackout conditions.
The coordinated operation, dubbed “Crimean Switch Off” by the unmanned systems forces, saw 20 energy nodes hit across the Crimean peninsula and a further eight in occupied parts of Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. The strikes come as part of a wider month long campaign that has disabled 164 energy targets across occupied Ukraine since 1 July.
Among the affected locations, residents in Simferopol, Bakhchysarai, Sudak, Alushta, Hurzuf and Feodosia reported flickering lights followed by complete power loss. The strikes targeted substations rated at 330 kV, 220 kV and 110 kV, which form the backbone of the peninsula’s electricity grid.
