Belated Russian Air Defences Deployed After Crimean Road Strikes

(CRIMEA, UKRAINE) – A Russian military supply truck was destroyed by a Ukrainian mid-range strike drone on a logistics road somewhere in Crimea, video footage released on 7th October 2026 has revealed.

The vehicle was struck while moving, immediately erupting into a fireball. The thick black smoke and intensity of the fire are consistent with a fuel-laden vehicle, suggesting it was either a tanker or a regular truck concealing fuel barrels. Russian forces have previously been observed using such deceptive methods, including placing fuel drums inside standard trucks or building false walls around tankers to hide them. The footage shows the driver continued to drive the burning vehicle, a decision that proved fatal as the truck was consumed by flames.

The same video shows two other trucks halted along the same road subsequently being targeted and destroyed by drones. One was a vehicle with a blue cabin and a greyish trailer, while the other was a white truck with a blue trailer, reportedly carrying wood. Smoke from the first truck was still lingering in the air when these follow-up strikes occurred, indicating the attacks took place in quick succession.

Following the strikes, the footage shows what appear to be two Russian air defence teams being deployed to the road. This included an SUV with a man-portable air defence system mounted on its roof and a truck of a type often used as a mobile fire control vehicle. This belated deployment is unlikely to prove effective, as these ad hoc air defence teams have a poor record, having reportedly only managed to intercept drones by being struck by them.

The video also captured a group of local residents camped by the roadside, observing the strikes like trainspotters. No exact location for the incident has been provided.
